AI governance policy

Where we use artificial intelligence, where we never do, and who is accountable. Every AI image on this site is labelled.

Last updated

This page is a working draft. It has not yet been reviewed by our advocate and may change. It is not legal advice.

This policy sets out where Equitable Homes Real Estate Limited uses artificial intelligence (AI) on this website and in how we market property, where we never use it, and who is accountable. It follows the transparency principle in Kenya's draft AI and Other Emerging Technologies Policy, July 2026: people are entitled to know when content they see has been generated or substantially altered by AI.

Where we use AI

  • Artist's impressions. Some images on project pages and lifestyle sections are generated or composed with AI tools to show what a finished estate could look like. Every one is labelled "Artist's impression" in its caption and in its alt text, so screen reader users are told too.
  • Enhanced or staged images. Any photo that has been enhanced or virtually staged with AI is labelled as such where it appears.
  • EH Advisor, our chat assistant. When it is switched on, a chat button on every page opens EH Advisor, an AI assistant built on Claude, a model made by Anthropic. It answers only from what is published on this website and links the pages each answer is based on. When our website does not answer a question, it says so and points you to our team. The chat window tells you that answers come from an AI and can be wrong.

What AI never does on this site

  • An AI image is never presented as the photo of a specific plot, home or rental. What you see as a photo of a property is a photo of that property.
  • EH Advisor does not decide anything about you and cannot reserve, price or approve anything. It gives no legal, tax or financial advice, does not arrange loans, does not predict prices or returns, and will not ask for ID numbers, passwords or payment details. Confirm prices, title status and availability with our team before you pay.
  • No automated system decides anything about you: not which enquiries we answer, not reservations, not prices, and not who can buy or rent. A person reads every request. Section 35 of the Data Protection Act, 2019 gives you the right not to be subject to such decisions.
  • The mortgage estimate and currency figures are plain calculations from published rates, not AI.

Your personal data

Questions typed into EH Advisor go to Anthropic to produce the answer. We do not store them in our content system or write them to our server logs, and under Anthropic's commercial terms they are not used to train its models. We do not enter the details you send through our forms into AI tools, and we do not use them to train any AI system. [Confirm any internal AI tools staff use, and the rule they follow for client data.] Our privacy notice covers how your data is handled.

People's likeness

We do not use AI to create images, video or voices of real people, and we will not use any person's image, voice or likeness without their explicit consent. We do not present AI-generated people as our clients or staff.

Accountability

  • Owner of this policy: [Confirm the person responsible for AI use at Equitable Homes].
  • EH Advisor can only repeat what our editors publish, so a mistake on the site is fixed at its source. It can be switched off at once in our content system, and it stops answering the moment it is.
  • Before an AI-made image goes live, a member of staff checks that it is labelled and that it does not misrepresent any plot or property.
  • We review this policy at least once a year, and whenever the law changes.

Kenyan law and policy

Kenya has no AI statute in force yet. The Artificial Intelligence Bill, 2026 (Senate Bills No. 4 of 2026) was read a first time on 2 Apr 2026 and is still before Parliament. It proposes disclosure of AI use, human oversight of decisions that affect people, and consent before using a person's likeness. The July 2026 policy is a draft. We already follow both on the points that apply to us, and will update this page as they become law.
